This Friday, December 11, the New Youth Mobility Agreement of Canada’s International Experience was signed; a bilateral agreement between Canada and Italy that aims to facilitate access to the international labour market for young people of both nationalities.

With the new agreement, Italians between the ages of 18 and 35 can work for 12 months in Canada and can extend the experience for up to 24 months. The same agreement applies to Canadians, in the same age group, who want to have work experience in Italy.

Since 2006, the governments of Canada and Italy have partnered with young people and the international labour market. Through the Canadian International Experience (IEC) program, young people from different countries have the possibility to travel to Canada for new work experiences. Currently, only young people with valid job offers are able to come to Canada to work.

The new agreement, which was signed today, will be implemented after ratification by the Canadian and Italian governments.
