The Government of Canada announced that as of November 21st, 2020, travellers whose final destination is Canada will be required to submit their information upon and after entry into the country through the app ArriveCAN. This includes travel and contact information, quarantine plans (unless exempted under conditions set out in the Mandatory Isolation Order), and a COVID-19 symptom self-assessment.

According to the announcement, travellers must be ready to present the information provided in the app to the border services officer, who will verify the information submitted digitally. Travellers who do not submit the required information digitally before boarding their flight could be subject to enforcement action, which can range from verbal warnings to a C$1,000 fine. Exceptions will be made for those who are unable to submit documents electronically due to personal circumstances, such as disability or inadequate infrastructure. Those who experience difficulty submitting their information through ArriveCAN can access additional information at Canada.ca/ArriveCAN or send an email to [email protected].

The ArriveCAN app is available to download on Google Play for Android devices or through the App Store for iOS devices.

In-transit passengers whose final destination is not Canada do not need to submit their information through ArriveCAN.

Travelling by land or marine modes

Travellers entering Canada by land or marine modes are strongly encouraged to download the mobile app or sign in online to provide the mandatory information before they arrive, in order to avoid additional delays due to public health questioning, and to limit points of contact at the border. Travellers can show their ArriveCAN receipt to a border services officer when seeking entry into Canada.  If you are looking for more information regarding travel authorization, visas, or immigration applications, book an appointment today with our team of professionals.
