An increase in application fees for the Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) was announced last Thursday, August 6th.

Before the change, applicants paid C$700 and from now on, the amount will be C$1,150.00. According to the Government of British Columbia, the increase will serve to recover costs and further improve the Program, such as reducing the time to evaluate processes and assist users of the Program. Another reason for the change in BC PNP rates is the comparison with immigration programs from other provinces in Canada. In Ontario, for example, the application fees cost between C$ 1,500.00 and C$ 2,000.00.

Since 2009, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) has enabled workers and entrepreneurs from other countries to immigrate to Canada, contributing to the country’s economic growth through their professional skills.

Currently, about 9,500 people are enrolled in the BC PNP with the expectation of becoming permanent residents in Canada.
